ARTIST STATEMENT
My work as an artist has two sides; one side dedicated to documentary filmmaking and the other dedicated to the art of adaptation.
On the one hand, I feel a great vocation for social issues and for approaching realities that are not usually approached within art, such as sports or certain types of musical genres such as heavy metal or its subgenres. Also, on the other hand, I like to play with the staging and the most dreamlike scenographies through adaptation. We are used to seeing how cinema takes magnificent literary works to the big screen, but the concept of adaptation is very broad.
To be inspired by music to make photography is a challenge, to take the sound away from something that is merely auditory, to take it to an image that tells that story and something more.
To be inspired, to practice intertextuality and drink from many other influences that help to build the story: literature, painting, cinema, etc.; that from a rehash of influences I get something new and different.
Creating awareness, bringing to art subjects that seem far from it or giving rise to unreal and dreamlike worlds are issues that arise when I create and my main motivations to make photography my means of expression.
